Phoenix Fitness :

How did you start off your fitness journey?

Bekah:

At University I really struggled with depression and I found going to the gym was a real escape for me. Over time I found that it was making me feel better in myself both physically and mentally! It is now my mission to share that with others who are also struggling like I was.

Phoenix Fitness :

At what stage in your life where you encouraged to get into fitness?

Bekah:

I was never really an athletic person growing up, I danced, but that was about it. When I got to 17/18 I noticed that I wasn't as skinny as the other dancers and I quit. I felt self conscious. When I went off to University I had obviously noticed the lack of exercise had impacted me physically and I had gained my freshers 15!

Phoenix Fitness :

Did you invest in fitness equipment?

Bekah:

At first it was just a gym membership and then it progressed to at home equipment, such as resistance bands, skipping ropes, push up bars and dumbbells!

Phoenix Fitness

Have you ever tried working out at home and how did this work out for you?

Bekah:

I do all of my workouts from home!! I have seen the best results, in the past 6 months of doing at home workouts, than I ever did using a gym!

Phoenix Fitness :

Did you consider a personal trainer or workout plan?

Bekah:

As a personal trainer, I believe it is important to constantly be updating your knowledge and I did this through having my own personal trainer and surrounding myself with tools to learn how I could improve. I look at it the same way you would expect a dentist to have their own dentist! I have now expanded my business online and the tools and the resources my company provides coaches is excellent! I am learning new skills everyday!

Phoenix Fitness :

Did you create clear and trackable goals?

Bekah:

Yes. My main goal has been to stay consistent and not give up. This is the longest I've gone without going into one of those phases of not working out! Each month or for each new programme I follow, I set goals, and then I work out what it is I need to do to achieve them! SMART goals are the most effective. (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-bound.)

 Phoenix Fitness :

Was Transformation ever tracked during your fitness journey, if so why do you think this is important?

Bekah:

100% important. Each week I take progress photos and I upload them to my social media in order to keep myself accountable. Sometimes it's hard to see the progress you're making when you look at yourself everyday, so taking photos and measurements shows that you are making progress!

Phoenix Fitness :

Did you ever leave focus to your fitness journey, if so what motivated you to get back on track?

Bekah:

In the past I would go in and out of phases of working out and then not. What has kept me consistent has been the team I surround myself with. I have a team of ladies that look up to me as their coach and expect me to show up every single day! That's enough accountability in itself to keep me going!

Phoenix Fitness :

Which exercises do you find work best for you to achieve your overall goals?

Bekah:

It all depends on what an individual's goal is. For me, at home workouts have been a game changer! Whether it's cardio or resistance training, it can all be done in the convenience of your own home which is free AND reduces excuses of getting to the gym! My favourite exercises are upper body weight exercises, such as dumbbell presses or rows. Recently I've been getting into super sweaty cardio circuits too!

Phoenix Fitness :

Are you happy with that you have achieved or are you wanting to do better? if so what are your next goals?

Bekah:

I am super happy with what I have achieved so far! For one, I am so much more happier in myself and that's all I ever really wanted. But I don't want to stop where I am, I'm loving the workouts I'm doing and the progress I'm making, so why stop now!? My main goal is to share what exercise has done for me with others. But if I had to pick a physical goal, it would be to get stronger and be able to do a minute of full on push-ups!

Phoenix Fitness :

Do you have any top tips to give to beginners who are starting off their fitness journey based on your experience?

Bekah:

Find someone to hold you accountable! Whether that is a friend you can't let down or a coach and a team online! Having that sense of community is so motivating and has kept me going through times I wanted to give up!
