Dan's dose of motivation

DAY 6
"PUSH YOURSELF BECAUSE NO ONE ELSE IS GOING TO DO IT FOR YOU"

Phoenix Fitness:

Overall as an individual do you consider yourself to be motivated when carrying out a task?

Dan:
100%! Whether that be doing my day job, in the gym or doing jobs round the house. I like to make sure the task in hand is complete to my satisfaction and I won’t stop until it’s done.

Phoenix Fitness:

What do you require from yourself when working out?

Dan:

I like to ensure that I put my all in, if I come away thinking I could have pushed harder then I’m not satisfied with efforts! I’ve been this way all through my life playing football as a boy, I always made sure that I did my all for the team. In my eyes effort = success.

Phoenix Fitness:

What’s it worth to you to achieve a healthier, fitter, happier life?

Dan:

Everything. I want to live to an old age and be able to see my children’s children grow up. By being fit and healthy this gives me the best opportunity to see this! Regarding happiness, again, there is nothing better than being happy within yourself. If you are happy it rubs off onto others 😊

Phoenix Fitness:

How do you find motivation to exercise on a daily basis?

Dan:

So for me motivation to exercise is always there. Some days I do not exercise but I don’t let it get to me. Rest is good! I try to make sure I hit a workout everyday just for my own peace of mind, I enjoy pushing my body to its limits.

Phoenix Fitness:

Have you ever lost focus from your routine? if so, how did you get back on track?

Dan:

Definitely yes and if someone tells you that they haven’t then they are lying! Everyone loses motivation every now and again, it’s all about how you regain that love for what you do again.

My own personal experience with loss of focus was when I was at my last job. I was doing a lot of travelling and a lot of hours sat behind a desk. I lost interest in almost everything.

I had to change my whole lifestyle around to ensure I was getting my workouts back in. I told myself that I had to make exercising a priority again, it worked!

Phoenix Fitness:

What motivates you push yourself?

Dan:

The thing that motivates me most is for me to see for myself just what exactly my body is capable of!

Phoenix Fitness:

How do you make up for a missed workout?

Dan:

I do not worry about a missed workout. I’m going to be training for many years to come so missing a workout every now and then isn’t going to push me back! If anything I just see it as added rest.

Phoenix Fitness:

How does missing a workout effect your goals?

Dan:

Again is doesn’t effect my goals, I’m in this for the long run so one workout is not going to mess up the end product.

Phoenix Fitness:

Have you ever lacked motivation during your fitness journey? if so, how did this effect you?

Dan:

Yes I have, I think the answer above about the lack of focus explains how motivation to train left me while I was at a very high pressured job.

Phoenix Fitness
:

Do you have any motivation tips, quotes or stories to give to beginners who are starting off their fitness journey based on your experience?

Dan:

All I would say to beginners starting their fitness journey is; take your time, you’ve got your whole lives ahead of you for training. Don’t push yourself so hard early on that you end up with injuries. Push yourself hard enough to make progress but not so hard that you hurt yourself.
